Tips to get the very best Havelock vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. Reserve your Havelock rental in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental:
- To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Spacious ocean view home. Just a 3 minute walk to the beach! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. Otherwise, contact the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
