Our top Havelock rental home booking tips:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to choose the best rental:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Toes in the Sand ???? Drink in Hand! 2 Decks, Views throughout, Great location! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, email the host before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
