Tricks and tips to get the optimal Havelock vacation property experience:
When to book a Havelock rental & When to go:
- Summer is high season in Pine Knoll Shores. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental home:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Steps to the beach! Hear the waves & feel the breeze! Your home away from home! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
