Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:
When to reserve a Havelock rental & When to go:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Steps to the beach! Hear the waves & feel the breeze! Your home away from home! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Havelock destination you are enamored with, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
