Our top Vacation rental booking tips:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. Booking your Havelock vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the perfect rental in the Havelock area:
- Start by having your family select a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Summer Winds C-120, Oceanfront Condo in Indian Beach, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the host immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
