Our top Rental home booking tips:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Sunbeam, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your agreement.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
