How to get the best Havelock rental home experience:

When to book a Havelock rental & When to go:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Blocks to the Beach! Huge Patio & Fenced-In Backyard. has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Contact the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
