Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and choosing the perfectrental:

  • Choose your vacation dates and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. NEW Look-Luxury Oceanfront Home in Dolphin Ridge W\/ Pool & Hot Tub????Epic Views has 7 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

During your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
