Getting the best Havelock vacation property experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. Reserve your Havelock vacation in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. The Gray Whale Cottage in Beaufort, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many problems.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
