Getting the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. Booking your Havelock vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
How to pick the best vacation home:
- To start, have your group commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Updated Home with Ocean View - with Private Pool and Hot Tub has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
