Tips for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing the perfect rental in the Havelock area:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. OCEANFRONT SPECTACULAR !! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
