Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Havelock vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. Book your rental property in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by choosing your trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Rum Pineapple Club, Oceanside House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If there's a specific Havelock beach you crave, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a great stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
