Rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the best rental value:
- Summer months are high season in Beaufort. Reserve your rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Why Knot Getaway...Rooftop with WaterView! Unit D has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
