Getting the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Filter your search:
- Start by having your group decide on trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanfront on Highly Sought After Ocean Ridge has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
