Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:

Sticking to a budget:

  • Summer time is high season in Beaufort. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Choosing the perfect rental:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. New Beaufort home at Beau Coast Retreat for ultimate comfort and fun! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Call the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
