Strategies to get the perfect Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in the Havelock area. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your group choose a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration you need. 2BR oceanside duplex, steps from beach, dog friendly at no add't fee has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Have a great stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
