Strategies to get the very best Havelock vacation property experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing and booking the right Havelock vacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. 4 BR Oceanfront Carolina Clipper East has Updated Kitchen with OF Views has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a particular Havelock beach you crave, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of concerns.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
  • At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
