Tricks and tips to get the optimal Havelock rental home experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking your vacation rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing and booking your prefectrental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Seaside Escape in Pebble Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- During check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
