Tips to get the very best vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Booking your Havelock vacation home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Azure Pleasure - Oceanview Home with Heated Pool! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
Tips to have a terrific stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
