Getting the best Emerald Isle rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Finding the best rental home:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Just Enough, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If not, call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
