Our top Havelock vacation rental tips and tricks:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and picking your prefectvacation home:

  • To start, have your group commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Just Enough, Almost Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Have a great stay:

  • Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
