Rental property booking tips:
Get the most from your budget:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Many property management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Havelock vacation home:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautiful Beach Condo with ocean view and 2 Pools! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
