Our top Emerald Isle rental property booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Sea No Evil, Oceanfront House in Emerald Isle, NC! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before booking the rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
