Getting the best rental home experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- To find the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Planning and choosing the best Havelock vacation home:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautiful Oceanview Third Floor Home w\/Shared Pool, Free WiFi, Balcony has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If not, reach out to the property owner before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
