How to get the best vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To book the best rental within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose and book the best Havelock rental:
- Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Bright, sunny, beautifully decorated one-bedroom condo overlooking the pool. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
