Our top Havelock vacation rental tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. To find the best rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking your prefect Havelock vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Atlantic Beach Beachside Studio Getaway_Kitchen_Pool has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
