Tips and Tricks to get the best rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your Havelock rental property in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing and booking the best Havelock vacation home:
- Start by having your group decide on a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Buoy Oh Buoy! Cheerful family beach cottage just a block from the Ocean & Sound! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you book the property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
