Havelock rental home booking tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. To get the best value, change your family's Havelock vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Dancing Barefoot- Cozy Beach Getaway- 4th Row House with Ocean View has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is best for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
