Strategies for getting the best Emerald Isle vacation home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best value, try changing your family's Havelock trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Carolina House - Steps to Beach, Fantastic Location! Walk to All Attractions has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before you reserve the vacation property. • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Add the owner's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home.
