Tips for getting the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Havelock rental:
- Start by having your family decide on date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Check out this Gem at The Point!\nSummer Weekends Available has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
