Strategies to get the perfect Havelock rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- To find the best value, shift your family's Havelock vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefectvacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Classic Oceanfront Beach Cottage by Oceanana Pier has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
