Our top Emerald Isle rental booking tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies supply Havelock area visitors guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by selecting your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Close Enough in Emerald Isle, NC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a specific Havelock beach you love, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
