Tips and Tricks to get the best Havelock rental home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. To find the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. HOT DEAL! REDUCED RATE ON THIS NEWLY UPDATED CONDO! NEW PICS COMING SOON! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
