Strategies to get the best Havelock rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies supply Havelock area visitor guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental:
- Start by having your family agree to the best dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Cloudburner West, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
