Finding the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To find the best value, shift your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Finding the best vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront 4 Bedroom, 3 Bath Duplex has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Havelock destination you love, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
