Tips to get the perfect Havelock rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Havelock area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Conch Tales fun, lakeside retreat in amenity filled Beau Coast. New rental! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
Considerations for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
