Tricks and tips to get the optimal Havelock rental home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Book your Havelock rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- To start, have your group commit to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Conch Tales fun, lakeside retreat in amenity filled Beau Coast. New rental! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Havelock beach you are enamored with, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
