How to find the best rental home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. To find the best value, try changing your family's Havelock vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Emerald View - heated pool no fee! Ocean view just steps from the beach. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to inspire future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
