Finding the best Emerald Isle vacation property experience:
When to visit Emerald Isle & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Emerald Isle. Book your Havelock rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Havelock area:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Fins East, Oceanfront Duplex in Emerald Isle, NC! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
