Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Havelock area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- To find the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Havelock area travel guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Choosing the perfect rental home in Emerald Isle:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Sound of the Sea 203N - 2BR Condo w\/ Pool! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your family.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
