Strategies to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Emerald Isle. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Havelock area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your Search:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Listen to the waves! View from 2 levels! Gorgeous sandy beach! 2 pools! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
