How to book the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Emerald Isle. To find the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Havelock area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfect Havelock vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Home w\/Private beachfront\/oceanfront access\/OceanViews\/PrivateBackyard@The Point has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. E-mail the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
