Rental property booking tips:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and choose your prefect Havelock vacation home:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Newly remodeled! Summer dates open! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to drive new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
