Our top Emerald Isle rental home tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are high season in Emerald Isle. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting and booking a perfect Havelock rental home:
- Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Oceanfront cottage; clean, modern, and close!! Play, rest, restore... has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible online. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. text the host right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
