Booking the best Havelock vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Havelock area. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and choosing yourvacation home:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautiful and private Oceanfront Cottage has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you crave, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
