Tips and Tricks to get the very best Havelock vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Havelock area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for local tours and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Pebble Beach G-202, Oceanside Condo in Emerald Isle, NC! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Havelock rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
Tips to have a great stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
