How to book the best Atlantic Beach vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Havelock restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • To start, have your family decide on the best dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Southwinds Unit J6-Oceanside Condo in Atlantic Beach, NC has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what is suitable for your group.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many issues.
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
