Rental property booking tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your Havelock vacation home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and picking a perfectrental:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Seaside Cottage, Soundfront House in Beaufort, NC has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Havelock attraction you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Know before you go:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
