Tips to get the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in the Havelock area. Booking your Havelock vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Classic Ocean Front 4BR Duplex - near Bogue Inlet Pier! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a particular Havelock destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
