Strategies for getting the perfect Havelock vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Havelock area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Havelock visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your group decide on dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Classic Ocean Front 4BR Duplex - near Bogue Inlet Pier! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
