Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- In the Havelock area, The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- To find the best rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Havelock attractions.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Havelock area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautiful new townhouse at Beau Coast has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a certain Havelock beach you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
