Tricks and tips to get the best Emerald Isle rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Emerald Isle. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Havelock area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the best rental home in Emerald Isle:

  • Select vacation dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Oceanfront, Dog Friendly, near the Point, beach & kids' gear, fun decor. has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, record any problem areas when you arrive. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
