Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer is high season in Emerald Isle. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Havelock area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 4BR w\/ Private Pool! 2nd Row to Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
