Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Havelock restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Havelock vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Havelock visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your family choose dates and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Townhouse Style Condo with Great Ocean View and Shared Outdoor Pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If there's a certain Havelock destination you crave, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make certain damages are not linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
